STOP CYBERBULLYING!!!!!!!
Ever been bullied by someone?
If "YES" you are the right person
to read this content and if it "NO" you are one of the god's gifted
person.
Bullying is the use of threat, or to abuse,
or to dominate, or to make someone feel
inferior by verbally, mentally or physical behaviour.
What is
Cyberbullying?
Cyberbullying includes sending, posting, or
sharing negative, harmful, false, or mean content about someone else. It can
include sharing personal or private information about someone else causing them embarrassment or humiliation.
(or) Trolling or harassment through
electronic means. Targeting a person to harm their morality, character,
virtually annoying someone to an extent that devastates them.
(or) Online harassment mostly by people
whom you don't know in real life.
Everyone loves that other people agree on
whatever their thought is. Quick online connection is a way to show their
frustration. Most of the people don't follow even their own comments. They
forget about it after commenting (when stress released). Very few are actually ones with whom we must deal with. To
tease someone over social media or misuse their photo and enter their privacy.
When your identity is hidden and you sledge people. It became increasingly common, especially among teenagers, as the
digital sphere expanded and technology has advanced.
Cyberbullying has affected teenagers. 1 out of 10
teenagers face cyberbullying.
There are many awareness programmes,
organisations, websites like"Rethink", "commonsense", etc. The
cyber cells, cyber police and many authorities came into the picture to stop
online harassment. But do you know the weirdest part? A child hesitates to say
about these things, this affects his/her mental health and gets an inferiority
complex because of bullying.
Internet trolling is becoming so common that they don't
even consider how it feels, just
to satisfy their pleasure and time pass doing such activities creates a big
problem. Where we see stalking victims or cyberstalking, catfishing, trolling,
ragging on the internet. These are those things which won't erase unless until
the action is taken on that site. The cyberbullying is also done due to peer
pressure.
Due to cyberbullying the person feels
"nobody wants to talk about anything", low esteem, self-depression,
more likely not going anywhere, consuming drugs and alcohols to forget those
incidents and suicide also. The adolescents are - the car with no breaks. They
just act and do rash things.
Do you know decision-making power we have is due to Prefrontal cortex
(PFC) which is cerebral cortex covering the front part of the frontal lobe,
which means the development and maturation of the prefrontal cortex occurs
primarily during adolescence and accomplished at the age of 25 years. This is
the region of the brain where it helps to behavioural performances, social
behaviour, moderating your performances, decision making, personality
expression and executes the brain function.
How can we stop
Cyberbullying?
By taking actions like protecting our accounts,
saving pieces of evidence, tell the person to stop, respond wisely, not fast, being vigilant, to stop
interacting with strangers, most importantly not sharing any personal
information on social media which is not having privacy, through strict law
enforcement, to report this to concerned authorities, report to the responsible
administrator, it's the government's responsibility to bring in better,
transparent policies, the change in the human mindset, Raising the voice of
each individual so that these issues can be dealt with, by spreading awareness and building up the empathy, Awareness through
ads on YouTube and other online services, spreading awareness and educating people to keep their data safe,
guidance from parents and elder people on cyberbullying includes advice for ending the cycle of
aggression, through internet laws. These are the various ways if you dare to
do.
But there are the most important and basic
things:
1. Privacy is prevention.
2. The toughest thing which must be
followed is to not respond and not retaliate.
3. Save the information, proof by
screenshot or any other means.
4. Legally report that person.
5. Block that person through social media/
contacts.
6. Tell your trusted person who can support
you.
In short, there are 3S to be followed,
STOP, SPEAK and SUPPORT.
Stop: Don't reply to that person. Stop
texting or giving a reply because it will increase more.
Speak: Report the user who has bullied you,
register a complain and take the advice from the trusted person. I know it’s hard, but it’s the only way. When
you are in trouble better you don’t give a reply apart from that you need to talk
to the consulted person or social media reporters or the cyber cell.
Support: Take the guidance from your
guardians or else trustworthy person so that you will be more comfortable to
open up your things.
The things you
must remember:
1. Know that it's not your fault.
2. Save the evidence.
3. Don't react/respond/retaliate.
4. Report through that social media
platform, or report to the cyber police/ cyber cell.
5. Reach out for help.
6. Keep your privacy settings in such a
manner that nobody can access your data.
7. Protect your accounts.
8. Keep strong password.
9. If someone you know is being bullied,
take action.
Information to
parents:
1. If your child asks for help, you are the
luckiest parents because the child trusts you the most.
2. Help your child to sort out the things.
3. Respond thoughtfully.
3. You can report the case very easily.
4. More than one perspective is needed, and
think wisely.
5. Support your child from being bullied.
6. This will result in a positive outcome.
